Why credentials matter
An EV charger is a permanent electrical installation connected to your home or building's main panel. Improper wiring can cause fires, damage your vehicle's battery, and void your warranty. Only a licensed electrical contractor should install one.
In Ontario, all EV charger installations require an ESA permit. If your installer doesn't pull a permit, the work is illegal and uninspected — and your insurance may not cover any resulting damage.
What to ask any EV charger installer

- Will you pull an ESA permit for this installation?
